Cloud raises doubts over future of licensing

The big powers in software make huge sums from licensing, but what will be their business model if there is a wholesale shift to the cloud? At the recent Cloud Expo Europe conference in London, ZDNet UK talked to a group of experts — Linux International's Jon 'maddog' Hall, Professor John Darlington of Imperial College London, Derek Kay of Deloitte MCS, and IBM's Linux advocate Bob Sutor — to garner their views on the subject.
